6 Benefits of Having a Second Photographer On Your Wedding Day

Not sure whether you need two photographers for your wedding day? We’ve been capturing beautiful weddings for over 10 years now, and can confidently say that having a second wedding photographer helps you get the most out of your experience.

A second photographer means you’ll have two sets of eyes to capture all of the important details from your celebration, and makes the overall experience smooth and stress-free. Read on as we share 6 amazing benefits of having a second photographer on your wedding day below.

1. We can capture both of you getting ready

Having two photographers for your wedding day allows us to be in two places at once. Most of our couples spend their wedding morning getting ready in separate locations, so having a second photographer means we can document both preparations as they happen - including all of those sweet shots with your bridesmaids, groomsmen and parents as they get ready for the day.

2. We give your ceremony set-up the attention it deserves

From flowers to furniture and signage, you’ve probably invested a fair amount of time and money into making sure your ceremony is styled to perfection. Having a second photographer allows one of us to capture all of those pretty little details, so you’ll have them photographed as a keepsake forever. Be sure to let us know if there are any specific set-up details you want us to capture on the day, so we can add them to our shot-list.

3. We nail all of the angles at your ceremony

During your ceremony, there will be so many wonderful moments and candid reactions happening at once. With two photographers, we can make sure we nail every angle and capture all of these important moments as they unfold.

The best example of this is when you and your fiance see each other for the very first time (one of our favourite moments from any wedding day!). Our photographers will be positioned at both the front and back of the aisle, so we can simultaneously capture your ceremony entrance and your fiance’s reaction at the altar. Trust us - you don’t want to miss out on these shots.

4. We capture more candid moments with your guests

Our photographers want to make sure we capture your friends and family (aka, your favourite people in the world!) enjoying your special day. After your ceremony, our first photographer can focus on capturing your family photos, while our second photographer can use this time to document candid shots of your guests greeting each other, sipping champagne and feasting on canapes. This all helps us deliver a well-rounded collection of images to truly tell the story of your day.

5. We make your portrait session super seamless

Having two photographers makes it so much easier to capture those epic wedding party portraits. With a large wedding party, it can be a little time-consuming to get these shots done - but with two photographers, it’s a breeze! With a second photographer on board, your wedding party portraits will take half the time and we can get you back to the party quicker. If you have a larger wedding party e.g. 6 or more including yourselves, we definitely recommend having a second photographer!

If you don’t have a wedding party, our second photographer will spend some more time capturing your guests enjoying the fun at your canape hour before helping to capture different angles during your couple shoot.

6. We document the dreamy reception details

Our couples put so much love and attention into creating gorgeous reception spaces, so we want to make sure we document all of your hard work! While your first photographer is still on location shooting your couple portraits, your second photographer can head over to the reception to capture all of the styling details before your guests enter.

Your wedding day will fly by in an absolute whirlwind and you might not get the chance to see your reception set-up before your guests have filled the space, so it’s amazing to have these photos to look back on.
