6 Reasons to Have Your Wedding Day Preparations Captured

Not convinced you need someone there to photograph your wedding day preparations?

As wedding photographers, if there’s a part of your wedding we absolutely recommend you have captured, it's your morning preparations.

We think documenting the moments leading up to the wedding ceremony not only adds a beautiful narrative to your day, it’s also super helpful.

If you’re curious to understand why, read on for 6 reasons to have your wedding day preparations covered.

1. easing into it

If you haven’t been photographed professionally before, it’s the best way to ease into it and get comfortable in front of the camera. Once we’ve said hi to everyone there, we’ll quietly manoeuvre our way around capturing all that’s happening while you continue getting ready for the big day.

2. The little details

One of the first things we’ll capture are the details that you’ve carefully selected for your day.

For our brides, this might be the lace on the dress, delicate veil or designer heels. For our grooms, it might be the pattern on a tie, fabric of the suit, a watch or cufflinks. We also love to lay it together with other important items like your stationery, rings or flowers - so make sure you have all these ready for us!

Remember that if you do want both preparations covered, you will most likely need a second photographer on your day. One of the many advantages of having a second photographer on your day!

3. The first looks

Probably our favourite moments of all to capture the morning of are when your mum, dad, or bridal party see you for the first time. It’s always full of emotion and it’s such a joy to capture the reactions so you can hold on to them for years to come.

We also capture first looks for couples if this is something you want - read more on our first looks tips!

4. letter reading and gift giving

Many of our couples write a heartfelt letter to each other before the wedding day or give a small gift. We love capturing the happy tears, expressions and emotions as your loved one reads your letter or opens their gift.

5. bringing the fam together

We love a family get together! There aren’t many occasions when your whole family is together for such a big event and you get those candid moments captured. It’s also a great time to grab a few extra family photos before the formal celebrations begin.

6. hanging with your besties

Having all your besties together in the morning helps to calm your nerves and brings the vibe. We’ll capture all the laughter, fun, champagne popping, cigar smoking and the final moments when you’re all ready for the big day ahead!
